A 29-year-old man named Daniel Sekyere, also known as Zylem, was left paralyzed due to severe violence by military officers during an argument at a local football match in Gomoa Nyanyano, Central Region.

According to Emmanuel Omari, a family member who spoke Me, Daniel went to watch a football match between local teams Seven Aside and Sabony Stars on Saturday, August 5, 2023. A dispute arose between the players during the game.

One player called his brother, who is a military officer, for help. The brother and his colleagues arrived at the scene in a Tundra pickup truck. They started assaulting both spectators and players from the opposing team, including Daniel.

Daniel was hit in the head by one of the military officers, identified only as Muller, and was further beaten until he lost consciousness. He was taken to a health facility in Nyanyano for initial treatment and later transferred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

Medical experts diagnosed Daniel with a brain tumor and a blood clot in his head. This has caused complete paralysis and partial memory loss.

Relatives are concerned about the slow response of investigators at the Gomoa Nyanyano Police Station, where an official complaint was filed. They are appealing to relevant state authorities to step in and address the situation.
